Oxycon

Oxycon has been specifically formulated to help stop the enormous amounts of money lost per year to rusting steel.

Oxycon is a high quality, and technically superior, rust converter/primer. The product is manufactured incorporating modern polymer technology with the proven effectiveness and capability of Tannic Acid.

Applied by brush, Oxycon rapidly neutralises rust (Ferrous Oxide), neutralises and converts it into a blackened ( Phosphate type) surface. Following this process Oxycon automatically primes the surface with a low water/oxygen permeable coating.

While Oxycon used as described is fully self priming, maximum protection is achieved by overcoating with a suitable mid coat – top coat paint application.

Oxycon is currently used in the following industry sectors; agriculture, automotive, local authority, government departments, road haulage, chemical, marine, heavy engineering, building and construction.

Oxycon Treats rust on:

  • Classic cars
  • Motorhomes
  • Cars
  • Lorries
  • Boats
  • And lots more

Application details

Surfaces must be abraded or wire brushed to remove all loose and heavy deposits of rust. Surfaces must be free oil, grease, and dust contamination. Following abrading, surfaces known to have been contaminated by salt deposits, should be washed with clean water and allowed to dry.

Oxycon is ideal for application by brush, but may also be sprayed for very large applications.

Coating thickness without sag: Airless spray -up to 60 microns

By brush-up to 40 microns.

Oxycon should not be thinned unless air assisted spray equipment is used. Thinning medium is clean water added progressively in small quantities. Oxycon is safe to use in food sensitive areas. The product may also be applied to damp (Not Wet) surfaces.

Drying Times

Temperature, humidity, air movement and product thickness all affect the drying time. Under good drying conditions Oxycon can be dry in as little as ten minutes. If however there is little air movement, low temperature (say 10 Deg C), the drying time can be as long as two hours.

Oxycon should not be applied below 10 Deg C or when high humidity, frost, fog or a high dew point will prohibit drying. Uncured Oxycon will be damaged if subjected to rain before drying fully.

Overcoating

Oxycon may be overcoated when cured, with any conventional paint, using brush, roller or spray.

Health and Safety

Oxycon is non flammable and can be regarded as essentially non-hazardous under normal use. During use gloves should be worn, as Oxycon will stain the skin. Stains can be removed by washing with DILUTED bleach and then plenty of soap and water. Oxycon MUST not be swallowed. If swallowed wash out mouth with plenty of water, and then drink plenty of milk or water. Seek medical attention immediately. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. Oxycon may cause slight eye irritation. Wash eyes with plenty of clean water; seek medical help if irritation persists.
